Easily switch between your Dropbox accounts on the web

Posted by Thomas Carriero on December 03, 2012

Like many people, I have two Dropbox accounts, one for my personal stuff and a Dropbox for Teams account that I use to collaborate with people at work. In the past, it’s been a bit of a hassle to switch between them when I’m on the Dropbox website — I had  to sign out of one account and try to remember my password to log into the other.

Today, we’re making it easier to switch between your personal and Dropbox for Teams accounts on the Dropbox website. Just click on your name in the top right corner, select ‘Switch Accounts,’ and sign into your other Dropbox account. Then, you’ll be able to flip easily between accounts by selecting the account from the drop-down menu, without having to sign in again during your session.

Keep in mind that only one account is active at a time, and when you sign out of Dropbox, you’ll be signed out of both of your accounts. Also, this feature is available only for people who are using the Dropbox website and have a personal and Teams account — not two personal accounts.

We hope that having the ability to switch easily between your personal and Teams accounts helps you be more productive! If you have any questions, check out our help center.

Cool, any chance we will see an upgrade to the client software allowing for a private and a team account on the same machine without loging out / inn

Agree with Christian. This ability would be awesome for the native application.

They could add a top level folder structure for the native apps:
    dropbox>Private Account>file.html
    dropbox>Team Account>file.html

That would make it easy to work in both accounts at once.

Doesn’t work if you have two (or more) created from two (or more) different email IDs.

Please, please add this to Desktop. It is the only thing preventing us from switching to Teams at our organisation.

FYI: In our methodology of use, I run all the team accounts for what ever purpose I need them, over individual users having them.

Best would be if it let me jump from any one team member to another (Assuming I have password validated etc) but that would require new code.

This feature would have been good If I could specify at least ANOTHER team account member, then I would have that one specifiy the next one etc, and thus daisy chain my way down the team member accounts, to the one I want. (understandably with how this might be implemented at the back end that might not be possible)
